Eyeglass repair

I have been in the Optical Business for 17 years.

Over the years I have seen all kinds of ways that people go about repairing their glasses! I have seen them use Super Glue, Elmer's Glue, toothpicks, rubber bands, safety pins, paper clips, thread, yarn, tape, band-aids,,,,,,I could go on and on and on,,,,,,

ANYWAY, Tonight I had this man who brought me a pair of glasses, plastic frames. On one side they had this black stuff??? He wanted me to take the lenses out of his frame and cut them down into a new frame. His frame had been broken there where all the black stuff was. That black "stuff" was holding his frame together!!!

SO when I get into the LAB and take the glasses apart, I see that black "stuff" is gooey and oily! NASTY!

SO I get finished. I am putting it into the computer and the man starts telling me that he is not from here, but he has to go to the probation office in the morning. He spent a night in jail for fighting. His glasses got broken in the fight. SO WHILE HE WAS IN JAIL, he got some of that "ooey", "gooey" black stuff that was around the windows and he used THAT to fix his glasses!

LOL

I guess whatever works at the time!

My Grandma always taught Me to "IMPROVISE"!

LOL
