BEAUTY
I want to write about what I am reading in a book,,,,,,,,I probably dont have time to write it all NOW. So I might have to write more over the next few days!
I am reading a book called CAPTIVATING. It was written by John and Stasi Eldridge.
My husband read the book called WILD AT HEART, written by John Eldridge. It is a Christian book for men and CAPTIVATING was written for women. It is amazing to me how the authors are so "ON TARGET" when it comes to women, our hopes and dreams, our fears, our insecurities,,,,,,,,,,
One section of the book is called "Beauty To Unveil".........
"That we even need to explain how beauty is so absolutely essential to GOD only shows how dull we have grown to HIM, to the world in which we live, and to Eve."
"Beauty is essential to God. No--thats not putting it strongly enough. Beauty is the essence of God."
"The first way we know this is thru nature, the world that God has given us."
IS. 6:3 "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is filled with His glory."
"Nature is not primarily functional. It is primarily beautiful."
The author talks about some qualities of Beauty,,,,,,,
Beauty is powerful.
Beauty speaks.
Beauty invites.
Beauty nourishes.
Beauty comforts.
Beauty inspires.
Beauty is transcendent.
I like the one about "Beauty comforts"
The author says:
"There is something profoundly healing about it. Have you ever wondered why we send flowers to the bereaved? In the midst of their suffering and loss, only a gift of beauty says enough, or says it right. After I lost my dearest friend, Brent, there were months when only beauty helped. There's a touching story told from the hospitals of WWII, where a young and badly wounded soldier was brought in from a hellish week of fighting. After doing what she could for him, the nurse asked if there was anything else she could do. 'Yes,' he said. 'Could you just put on some lipstick while I watch?' Beauty comforts. It soothes the soul."
