The World's Smallest Bird

Today I have been reading about a very interesting bird. It is the Smallest Bird in the World! It is the Cuban Bee Hummingbird. It resembles, you guessed it A BEE!!! It is about 2-21/2 in long! It weighs less than a dime! One website said it weighs less than 2 paper clips! Since it is the smallest bird in the world, Of Course it lays the smallest eggs!! I read where the eggs are about the size of your smallest fingernail! WOW!

I first read about these in a Birds and Blooms magazine. I stopped taking this magazine because I DONT HAVE TIME TO LOOK AT MAGAZINES!! But my parents are here visiting us for the week and they brought some with them! I am on vacation, so I am trying to relax and trying to MAKE THE TIME to look at the magazines. I enjoy them so much!

ANYWAY,,,I read about this little bird and so of course I HAD to go online to read more and to see if I could find Pictures! They are just SO CUTE! Not just "cute", hummingbirds are amazing little creatures! Their wings beat so fast, they look like a blur,,,almost invisible!
I just love birds! I have been able to do some Birdwatching these last few days! It has been Wonderful! I usually DONT HAVE TIME to watch the birds! =o(
